Toolmaking Europe ⇄ China
Chinese capacity. German accountability.
Injection moulds, die-casting moulds and prototype tooling, built in a plant of more than 400,000 m² in Qingdao – planned, inspected and answered for by a German master toolmaker in Lüdenscheid.
Understanding the part before the tool is built
In Lüdenscheid
Capturing requirements, selecting materials, proposing the tool concept. Clarifying quantities, cycle time and target machine.
In Qingdao
Capacity check and rough costing at the partner plant, matched to the intended tool size.
3D concept, filling analysis, FMEA
In Lüdenscheid
Mouldflow analysis, 3D tool concept and FMEA. Release only once gating, cooling and demoulding are resolved.
In Qingdao
Detail design based on the released concept, steel selection with certificate, schedule for toolmaking.
Manufacturing under continuous supervision
In Lüdenscheid
Project management to German OEM standards, regular status checks, intervention on deviations before the sampling date.
In Qingdao
Production in a plant of more than 400,000 m² – from small electrical components to large automotive parts such as bumpers, including cleanroom production.
Sampling with measurements, not promises
In Lüdenscheid
Non-contact 3D measurement to OEM specification, thermography with infrared cameras, a measurement report as the basis for acceptance.
In Qingdao
Sampling on the target machine size, rework at the plant until release.
Support for as long as the tool runs
In Lüdenscheid
Your contact stays the same. Spare parts, modifications, support when relocating to other machines.
In Qingdao
Spare-part production and tool overhaul at the partner plant, coordinated from Lüdenscheid.
The problem
Far-East tooling rarely fails on price.
It fails on coordination: unclear requirements, undocumented changes, acceptance without reliable measurement – and, when a claim arises, nobody who understands both sides.
One contact, both sides
As Tooling Manager at Faurecia, Martin Liesen was responsible for 2,000 tools per year in Asia. He knows both ways of working from practice.
Inspection before production
3D tool concept, filling analysis and FMEA run before manufacturing starts – not as evidence afterwards.
Acceptance backed by measurements
Non-contact 3D measuring systems to OEM specification, thermography with infrared cameras.
Documentation that stays
With the Mold-Brain, CAD data, certificates and the change history live on the tool itself – not on a server in another time zone.
Own development
The Mold-Brain
A waterproof industrial data store, permanently fitted to the tool or retrofitted. A USB cable is all it takes to access the stored data – no archive search, no old CDs, no server permissions.
- CAD data and 3D mould drawings
- Steel certificates
- Process parameters of the injection moulding machine
- Measurement reports on production parts
- Responsible contacts and design origin
- Information on design changes
Industries
Where the tools run
Automotive
Core competence: exterior, interior, roof, tailgate, engine and transmission.
Toys
Complete assemblies from a single source – "as if from one mould".
Housewares
From the idea through modelling to delivery.
Medical technology
Certified quality, process reliability, traceability.

Send the part, not the spec book.
A 3D file or a drawing is enough for a first assessment of tool concept, effort and timeline.
